Differences Between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate

Let’s get this out of the way, what is CBD? Cannabidiol (CBD) is the non-psychoactive compound counterpart of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). That is extremely effective for pain relief.

A few of the many benefits include reducing chronic inflammation, fighting cancer and tumor cells, alleviates seizures, combats anxiety and depression disorders, and can increase your energy.

CBD provides an effective treatment option for people looking for more natural forms of treatment.

As you may already know, there are varying methods that you can consume CBD, such as gummies, vape juice, topicals, and oils to name a few.

But it’s important to understand that when looking at hemp oil for treatment, there are two main types of CBD; Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD (Whole Plant CBD) extract comes with all the cannabinoids present in the hemp plant.

When the plant is extracted for hemp oil, a few of the cannabis compounds (cannabinoids) and properties that are extracted include Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabicylol (CBL), Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), Cannabichromevarinic Acid (CBCVA), and terpenes (flavor profile). But CBD makes up 90% of the cannabinoid content in full spectrum hemp oil.

Trace amounts of THC (>0.3%) may also be found in full spectrum that can cause very limited cerebral stimulation. For products to qualify as “industrial hemp”, regulated by the US government, there must be no more than 0.3% of THC.

Benefits of Other Cannabinoids Found in Full Spectrum:

  • Cannabichromene (CBC) – May increase Neural Progenitor Stem Cells.
  • Cannabinol (CBN) – A helpful sleep aide if you are suffering from sleep disorders like insomnia.
  • Cannabigerol (CBG) – Helpful in killing or slowing the growth of bacteria, can improve bone density, and inflammation.
  • Tetrahydrocannabivarin (TCHV) – Increases the speed and intensity of THC effects. TCHV is also energetic, reduces panic attacks, stimulates bone growth, may help with Alzheimer’s and diabetes, and can increase appetite.

Benefits of Full Spectrum CBD

Since the molecules of the whole plant remain intact in the extracted full spectrum CBD hemp oil, these compounds work together and as a result deliver what is referred to as the “entourage effect”.

When the array of cannabinoids and other compounds are left together, they can enhance the therapeutic benefits and regulatory affects you are searching for.

What is CBD Isolate?

CBD Isolate

On the other hand, CBD Isolate is produced by separating CBD from other cannabis compounds found within the source plant such as the psychoactive cannabinoid THC.

The extraction process of Isolate is different than for Full Spectrum. Specifically, once the hemp oil is extracted from the whole plant, the oil is then cooled until crystals begin to form. The produced crystals are then processed into powder form. After processing, the isolate (powder) contains a molecular compound of nothing but CBD.

The CBD Isolate can then be used in varying forms of herbal treatment such as in an edible, topical, oil, or concentrate.

Is Full Spectrum CBD or Isolate Better for Me?

At first, it was thought that CBD isolates provided the most potency and concentration, but research has recently discovered the opposite to be true.

Researchers in 2015 found that full spectrum CBD offers higher levels of pain relief than that of CBD isolate. This is because CBD Isolate results in a “bell curve” of effectiveness.

Meaning that CBD Isolate declines in effectiveness over time, while Full Spectrum CBD continuously provided noticeable pain relief over time. Not to mention that when the dosage of Full Spectrum CBD increased so did pain relief, unlike CBD Isolate that is only as effective as its dosage.

If you are interested in approaching cannabis treatments from a holistic angle, then full spectrum CBD will be more effective than CBD isolate. Hemp oil provides an extremely potent source of CBD, which is the responsible for much of the oil’s cannabinoid profile.

However, there are numerous mediums to consume CBD oil, such as gummies, capsules, vape juice, and cartridges to name a few. So to fully reap the benefits of CBD, you should experiment with each to see which medium provides the most relief for your pain.

Hemp Infused CBD Oil as a Medicine

Whether using CBD in a gummy, concentrate, oil, topical, or any other medium. CBD’s affinity to our CB2 receptors is what’s making cannabis such an effective solution/treatment to so many ailments.

Hemp infused CBD oil could potentially change the course of treatment for so many diseases and disorders, unlike anything the medical field has seen before.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re an experienced user or just beginning to experiment with hemp infused CBD oil, experiment with both Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate to see which is most effective for you.

Although you may come to find that Full Spectrum CBD is more effective such as in the study discussed above

Also, I highly recommend that you try the wide array of CBD products currently on the market like patches, lotions, topicals, tinctures, spray, capsules, or vape juices!
